I don’t drink often anymore, but when I do, sparkling spiked water or a good tequila, soda water and lime are my go to choices!
Better nutrition habits are very important and treating our bodies well should be a daily choice... but we all want to socialize and let loose now and again! 🎉 Anyone that believes in depriving you of your favorites is not focusing your lifestyle - the reality is we are all human and we want to have fun... and sometimes that involves adult beverages
We just have to play smart! The more we understand how alcohol affects us, the better plan we can formulate to enjoy ourselves on occasion while still effectively working towards goals
Alcohol is a toxic “anti-fiber” -- say what? Fiber helps keep things moving smoothly & appropriately in the body, where alcohol slows down metabolism & normal processes become interrupted.
As demonstrated by the infographic, the scale tends to be predictable: Empirically, if we drink on a Saturday, we’ll wake up lighter the next day (due to dehydration, etc), & then potentially weigh heavier the following 2-3 days. Then scale typically resumes normal activity
(See why it can be a total nightmare if you’re drinking multiple times a week? The scale would be chronically bouncing all over the place or going up!)
How drastic of a fluctuation we see is not only dependent on what we drink & how much we drink but also definitely related to our food choices when we drink. . . because let’s face it: Nobody goes, “Mann, I’d really love to be a rabbit and smash a healthy, leafy salad with my beer” - It tends to be heavy & calorically-dense foods we gravitate to 🍔🌮🍕.
Tips on Optimizing Drinking Occasions:
⚡️Crush a good workout morning of
⚡️Set a limit on drinks *PRIOR* to going out - 2-3 should be plenty!
⚡️Limit drinks to 1x/wk (or abstain during fat loss efforts)
⚡️Keep meals packed with protein/veggies so we ‘free up’ a little carb cushion for later in the day (you know, just in case you get white girl wasted & cuddle 🍕🍟🌯 at 2 am)
⚡️Choose high-quality alcohol, free of grains & skip the sugary mixed drinks
